This is a lovely little railway. Although the journey is not very long, there is a super museum with lots of engines for the kids to climb on and interesting artefacts from days gone by. A lovely cafe and a nice shop. Also a miniature railway at the museum, which is great fun.

The museum was excellent, the volunteer staff so kind to explain the journey and engage my daughter in how to change the signal points. There is lots for children to do as well as lots for adults to read and learn and the miniture railway was great fun, just don't take the journey too seriously! The volunteers are absolutely brilliant people, it's a shame there isn't more to stay with the tourist so we could have stayed longer to look around.

Such alovely little railway, museum as been there so many times in the past, but one day last week, as on holiday, i was there with my family, i had an accident as i was getting of the steam train carriage, i missed my foot on the step on the carriage and fell, i couldn’t walk, Iwas embarrassed, but the staff were fantastic with me, they got me first aid etc , the result i got hairline fracture , Just wanted to say a massive thank you so very much for looking after me.

Visited earlier this year. I think it is a very underrated little line. It is unique, as it lets you have a taste of what the current Welsh Highland Railway, was like back 100 years ago. No other line can ever say they are a representation of what another heritage line used to be like. It has a lovely selection of engines, and a cute little museum full of fascinating information about The Welsh Highland. Not to mention a few of the most beautifully maintained narrow gauge stations I have ever seen, all clean and have beautiful flowers growing. A few people have said the line is short, but I say that if the only thing I would wish for it to be even longer so I could enjoy it even more, then that is actually a big compliment I can give to the line. Over all, a lovely little, well maintained and authentic line, with friendly staff. Definitely will visit again one day, and will recommend a visit to anyone.

Great small ride that takes you up the line and back in an hour, which included a 40 minute stop at their museum. The museum was great for all ages and well presented.

Very friendly small heritage railway that's great for the kids. Please don't get it mixed up with the Welsh Highland Railway - the track at the Welsh Highland HERITAGE Railway is very short, with the museum that you stop at being the main feature. The museum is interesting for railway enthusiasts & has plenty to keep children entertained (including a miniature ride on railway). The volunteers are brilliant - friendly, helpful & very patient with children. The cafe is very good too & probably serves the best breakfast in Porthmadog.

The best start to a train/railway enthusiast's holiday week. Paid a second visit to the wonderful WHHR yesterday on a glorious summer's day. Sun, steam and scenery, can't beat that. Riding behind the famous Russell was on the bucket list for months. Was so made up to cross it off finally! The staff and volunteers there are absolutely out of this world. Befriended a few there (Pete and Mackenzie) who were working the train that afternoon. What started as a lovely day out ended up in me helping the whole crew put the locomotive and carriages away at the end of the day! Haven't done that for a while... Already enquiring to volunteer there as I write this, waited long enough. If you haven't been, what are you waiting for? Perfect day out for families, completely family friendly. Fantastic museum, wonderful loco collection, friendly staff and just overall a place to be for whatever age you are. Highly recommended. 5 all day.
